Blue sky, grey white nimbostratus clouds over Jackson Hole valley-floor, Jackson Lake and Teton Mountains, looking south from the footpath from Lunch Tree Hill, Jackson Lake Lodge, Wyoming. The Teton peaks include Thor Peak (at 3666 metres), Mount Saint John (at 3484 metres), Grand Teton (at 4199 metres or 13,770 feet), Middle Teton ( at 3903 metres), South Teton (at 3814 metres) and peaks beyond. The Grand Teton (centre background) is the highest mountain in the Teton Range. It may have been so-named by 19 the Century French fur-trappers, being derived from the French 'large teat'. The name, alternatively, may derive from the Teton Sioux.
