Wright Flyer, crash landed. This photograph was taken after the fourth flight, which covered 260 metres in 59 seconds. The abrupt landing resulted in a broken rudder frame, which was reparable, but a freak gust of wind destroyed the aircraft. These four flights were the world's first by a powered aircraft, and covered a total of 410. 6 metres. Photographed on 17th December 1903 at Kill Devil Hill, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA.
