CROCUS. Planted in clusters by themselves in the garden or lawn Crocuses are very efl'ective. A favorite method of planting is to put the bulbs just below the sod in the lawn so that the flowers will come up through the grass in the early spring. They may be grown successfully in the house or green- house, the pots or pans in which the bulbs have been planted being kept in a cold cellar until the middle of January, as even a moderately mild tem- perature before that date will spoil them.
