Khartoum Sudan

Khartoum is located at the confluence of the Blue and White Nile rivers. It was founded in 1821 by the Khedive Ismail as an outpost for the Egyptian Army however if quickly grew as a centre for the slave trade. It was named the capital city of Sudan after its independence in 1956.
