CUNNINGHAM, a realestate dealer and negotiator of loans, is a nativeof Paris, Bourbon county, Kentucky, bornApril 14, 1834. It has fallen to the lot of butfew men to have been associated, directly andindirectly, with so many of the great men of histime as was the subject of this sketch. Hisfather, John Cunningham, was a native Vir-ginian, born in Hardy county, whose ancestryincluded some of the original settlers of theOld Dominion State. John Cunningham wasa member of General Shelbys cavalry duringthe War of 1812, was in at the death of thebrave and crafty Tecumseh at the battle of theThames, and after the war served as joint statesenator for Bath and Bourbon counties, Ken-tucky. He was in the senate at the time ofHenry Clays death, and it was through hispolitical manipulation that John J. Crittendenwas elected to succeed that great statesman inthe senate of the nation.
