Since that time he continuedto act as manager of the Salt LakeTheatre until 1929, when the edificewas torn down. For a period of overthirty years he had brought to thepeople the finest attractions the stageafforded and during that period alsobrought to the Tabernacle, Salt LakeCity, many world-famed artists andmusical organizations. In 1928 he pub-lished the story of the Salt Lake The-atre and early drama in Salt Lake, un-der the title of The Romance of An Old Playhouse. Among the side ac-tivities he was a member of the firstSalt Lake Board of Education, and ofthe first City Library Board; also pres-. ident of the Salt Lake Oratorio Soci-ety and Musical Arts and Civic MusicAssociation, and since its organizationhas been first assistant to Elder Mel-vin J. Ballard in the Church Musiccommittee. In 1909 he installed aChurch exhibit in the GovernmentBuilding at the Alaska-Yukon Expo-sition at Seattle, Washington. Themodels of the temple and tabernacleused at that fair were taken to theSmithsonian Institute at Washington,D. C, and recently have been shownat the Century of Progress in Chica-go, and the San Diego Pyper was chairman of the Cen-tury of Progress Church committeeand in consultation with the Fair-banks family (J. B., J. Leo and Ar-vard) supervised the preparation ofthat wonderful exhibit. In November, 1911, Elder Pypermanaged the Tabernacle Choir in a6000 mile tour to the National Irriga-tion Cong
