To state in a concise form the laws which should govern the application of ornament to certain fabrics which are to be seen in folds, I should say—1st. Great simplicity of pattern is Circles, straight lines crossing the fabric, and diagonal lines are all correct in such a case, and are improved by the foldsj which form them into subtle and beautiful curves (Fig. 91).. The size of the pattern should be considered in relation to the size of thefolds of the material.
