She institutedmeetings of her own sex to discuss religious matters,—claimed to have received private revela-tions from Heaven, and denounced the authority of theclergy. Among her followers were Vane, Cotton, Wheel-wright, and the whole Boston Church except five summoned before the general court, after a trial oftwo days, she and some of her adherents were sentenced tobanishment.
