In the Mediterranean, including tlie Adriatic and Sea of Marmora, a variety 4 (var. iiiucronata) occurs. Its vertical distriliu- tion is ca. 5â80 fm.') Remarks. The very small specimens of this species are not easy to recognize at first glance; as fig. 3 shows, the antero-dorsal "'^ j^ corner forms a sharp angle.
