The interior of Hagia Sofia, Istanbul, Turkey
This is the interior of Agia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. For a thousand years, until the fall of Constantinople in 1453, it was one of the most important churches in Chistendom. It was converted to a mosque during Ottoman rule and later to a secular museum under Ataturk in the 20th Century. It is considered by many to be the epitome of Byzantine architecture.
