A group of participants performs rituals and offerings to Mother Earth during the Andean carnival in Oruro

The Anata Andina, or Andean carnival, is a celebration of the Andean peoples preceding the carnival. The celebration of Anata begins with first harvests in February, in jallupacha or rainy weather. It is a ritual that comes from pre-Hispanic times and is linked with fertility, nature and the agricultural cycle.
