60th annual "Great Parade" for the Jewish festival of Lag B' Omer in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, April 28, 2013.

Bomb dog patrols the crowd. The NYPD beefed up the security at this year's Lag B'Omer parade in response to the recent, terrorist bombing at the Boston marathon. The parade was established by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson as a demonstration of Jewish unity and pride. Lag B'Omer is a Jewish holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer, which occurs on the 18th day of the Hebrew month of Iyar. It commemorates the death of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, and the day on which he revealed the secrets of the Kabbalah in the form of the Zohar, a Jewish mystical text.
