Mallaig on the West Coast of Scotland is a fishing village and the terminus for the West Highland railway line from Glasgow and Fort William. It is also a ferry port for the Caledonian Mac Brayne Ferries and Bruce Watt sea cruises, with sailings to Armadale on the Isle of Skye and to the Isles of Rum, Eigg,Muck and Canna. It is famous for its smoked kippers and offers excellent fish and chip suppers. Mallaig and surrounding villages are popular for holidays with plenty of outdoor activities like fishing, sailing and walking.
