The Marie-Adolffontein (popularly known as the Quack Monument) with the Kolpinghuis on the left. In 1925-1926, this Obelisk was built at the intersection of the Nassausingel (right), Spoorstraat, Kronenburgersingel (left), Van Berchenstraat and Smetiusstraat. The Monument, which was unveiled in May 1926, was a gift De Nijmegen former alderman Arnoldus Burchard Adolphus (Adolf) Quack (1842-1920). He had determined that part of his inheritance had to be spent on establishing a fountain. This fountain, which had to be named after him and his sister Marie, had to turn the city further.
