A favorable factor at Liverpool, however, is the fact that stocks, with few exceptions, are not too large and values, therefore, are fairly well maintained. Yet in the face of the weak demand, it is still desirable that imports should be moderate. The stocks of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia spruce and pine at Liverpool and Manchester combined totalled 16,410 standards on June 30th last, against 19,000 at the same time in 1908, and 26,960 in 1907. Comparatively speaking, therefore these are light. The imports of these classes of woods were pretty evenly divided between Manchester and Liverpool. The demand at present is.
