REVISION OF NIAGARA RAILWAY ARCH BRIDGE indicate that the following, or train loads, with each of the Cooperloadings E-60, E-70, and E-80, are too high and that if Coopers loadingis to be used for the future, the train load for E-60 should be 5 500 lin. ft., for E-70 only 6 000 lb. per lin. ft., and for E-80 only 6 500lb. per lin. ft. The weight per linear foot of Cooper locomotives isshown in Curve (d) for the purpose of general comparison. The careful study of all traffic using the Niagara Arch Bridge, andespecially of that passing over it during the months that the tests werein progress in 1918, indicated that, for both tracks loaded, 90% ofE-60 should be used on the arch, but 100% on the trusses of 115-ft. span. Deflection. The deflection of the Koebling Suspension Bridge was very large,amounting to 5£ in. under a light load of 47 tons total for one loco-motive and one passenger car.
