A photograph of the English countryside including rugged landscape and the hilly undulations which form part of the North York Moors National Park. The North York Moors is one of the largest national parks in the UK and also one of the largest areas of heather moorland. The heather (Calluna vulgaris) flowers mainly in late summer. The area is popular for tourists and the main attraction seems to be walking through this rugged and most beautiful of natural landscapes. This photograph was taken in spring near the town of Goathland, Yorkshire. The rocks date to the Jurassic geological period.
