Enterobacteria P22 infects Salmonella typhimurium bacteria. The phage consists of an icosahedral (20-sided) head (upper centre), which contains the genetic material, DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, red), a short tail and tail fibres (leg-like), which fix it to a specific receptor site.
