The quadriga of Victoria above the Brandengurg gate
Built on the sioght of the original gate of the city the Brandenburg Tor or Bradenburg Gate was commissioned by Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia between 1788 and 1791 and was meant as a symbol of peace. The Brandenburg Tor was built by Carl Gotthard Langhans in the neoclassical architectural style and consists of twelve Doric pillars forming five formal arches supporting a plinth holding Victoria's quadriga.
