A garden path in early September lined by herbaceous borders with late summer flowering plants, Rousham House, Oxfordshire, England

The wide and deep herbaceous borders within the walled garden of Rousham House in Oxfordshire, still provide a colourful display in early September. The gardens at Rousham were created by William Kent (1685-1748), although the walled gardens actually pre-date him, and are a fine example of early English landscape design and remain much as he left them.
