The image shows the ship Susquehanna in locks, but in a backwards position. Due to the condition of the basin filled with ships, the transport was unable to turn around and enter the locks "bow-on". The photograph was taken on January 17, 1919, in St. Nazaire, Loire Inferieure, France.
