The ratio of maximum crown width to spacing declined with increased spacing in a curvilinear relationship. At the spacing, the maximum crown width of Douglas-fir and western hemlock was about three times the average spacing; at the spacing, the maximum average crown width of Douglas-fir was about times the average spacing. 15.
