The King's Beasts. Photograph by Kim Craig.

These are the King’s carry the coats of arms and badges of Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour. Henry continued to love Jane after her death (she died at Hampton Court Palace). He was buried beside her at Windsor. His marriage to Jane was the first Henry recognised as lawful (both his previous marriages were dissolved, declared never to have happened). Jane gave Henry what he wanted – a son to continue the dynasty.
