There are alsotraces of the coat having had a brown fur collar, butthe picture is in bad condition. On the slab are in-scribed three couplets in Latin hexameter and pentameterverse. His hair curls low on the foreheadand falls in cavalier ringlets over the ears. Fittingclose under the chin is a broad linen collar, edged withspikes that spread over the tunic. The latter lias slashedsleeves, disclosing undersleeves of lawn with lace sash surrounds the waist, and from the left shouldera bandolier crosses the chest. On this the young manholds his right hand, with the fingers elegantly splayed,while his left hand grasps a truncheon. The backgroundis composed of drapery.
