In 1905 Gaudí traveled to La Pobla de Lillet to build the Catllaràs chalet, a mountain refuge for the engineers of the coal mines that supplied the Asland cement factory, in the neighboring town of Castellar de Nuch, owned by Eusebi Güell, a wealthy industrialist who was the main patron of the architect. During his stay in the town, Gaudí stayed at the home of the textile industrialist Joan Artigas i Alart, who had a piece of land in the so-called Fuente de la Magnesia, in the bed of the Llobregat river. In gratitude for the hospitality of Mr. Artigas, Gaudí designed the gardens for him
