Antony Gormley's 60 "Critical Mass" sculptures on the roof of the Art Deco De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex. Critical Mass, one of Gormley's best known sculptures, is taken from 12 moulds of the artist's body in various positions. Since its creation in 1995 it has travelled the world and this is the first time it has been shown in full in Britain since 2001. Gormley visited the Grade 1 listed Modernist De La Warr Pavilion in January and was inspired by the rooftop space of the building designed by Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff in 1935. The exhibition opened on Saturday 8 May 2010.
