He is a hero worshipper and his trinity ofpolitical gods are John Raines, Thomas C. Piatt andTheodore Roosevelt. Robert F. Thompson, one of the strong young Re-publicans of the county, was elected district attorney in1899 and served until 1902. He was then re-elected andserved until 1905. He made a fine record in that officeand was unanimously nominated for county judge in thefall of 1908 and elected for a term of six years. He ismaking an excellent record as an able and upright judge. Jean LeRue Burnett was one of Ontarios brilliantand distinguished young men. He was educated in thepublic schools and the academy and was a graduate of the. OFFICIAL NEW YORK FROM CLEVELAND TO HUGHES Ann Arbor Law School. He became actively interestedin politics while in college and was one of the organizersof the American Collegiate Republican League, anorganization which contained sixty thousand he left college, before he was old enough to vote,he went on the. stump for the Republican ticket and woninstant recognition as a brilliant and finished campaignorator. He had great literary ability, was a fine writerand frequently contributed articles on important publicquestions to the best magazines. He held a prominentposition in the revision department in the State Assemblyin 1905-6-7, and in 1898, when only 27 years of age, hewas elected to represent Ontario county in the StateAssembly and served continuously until the time of hisdeath in 1907.
