The 13th - 14th Century Market Cross - and Quiet Man Pub behind, Cong, County Mayo, Ireland

On the south-southeast face of the square base there's an inscription written in a Mezzo-Gothic font, typical of the 13th or 14th century, and Medieval Irish language, but it's very weathered and almost illegible, and it's been carved again on the shaft. Translated it reads "Pray for Niahol and Gilbert O'Dubthaigh, who were abbots in Cong"
