For theseschools there are 320 district-owned teacherages, and 57 buildings thatare rented by the district. The schoolhouses are being used as homes for teachers in manyrural districts. In 150 school buildings separate rooms have been pro-vided for the teacher which arrangement is sometimes very convenientand more satisfactory for experienced teachers than a distant boardingplace. But 116 teachers are living in the classrooms, a plan which isnot satisfactory in any particular and which interferes with the workof the school. Of the 122 teachers who lived outside of the district in which theytaught, 57 were obliged to do so in order to find a place to live. It isevident that the housing of the teacher is a serious problem in manyrural districts in Montana. 1919-201921-22 No. of one and two-teacher
