Snedigh replied by stating that the claim ofBruynsen against him concerned also his comrade, and he hadpaid for him. Bruynsen rejoined that he agreed for it with theplaintiff. After the Court had heard both sides, it ordered the plaintiff and his comrade to give the defendant each thirty stiv- ers.^22 On June 1, 1660, Govert Lookermans sued Bruynsen for cut-ting sod from the best of his land. He demanded an indemnifica-tion of fifty guilders. The Officer, as guardian accordingly de-manded the fine according to placard. Bruynsen replied that hedid not know whose land it was. A week later, however, he wascondemned by the Court to pay the fine according to the Placardat the discretion of the officer.^^ On Septembe
