Dione's surface, Cassini image. The brighter area from middle left to upper right is the rim of a crater. Its central peak is a bottom right. Dione has a diameter of 1130 kilometres and is the densest of Saturn's moons. The Cassini-Huygens spacecraft was launched in 1997 to investigate Saturn, its rings and its moons. Image taken by the Cassini spacecraft's narrow-angle camera on 11th October 2005 at a distance of 4,486 kilometres from Dione.
