It delights in a rather poor, light soil, and blooms in the greatest profusion from June to November. A most desirable shrub either for planting in the open border or for growing in pots as a decorative spring-floweiing plant, like the well-known Genista Fragrans and Kacemosa that are grown so extensively for Easter decorations ; but unlike those varieties, which are entirely yellow, the flowers of this new variety, which are nearly four times as large, are produced in large branches, the lower lip a bright yellow, the upper one a rich brownish crimson. Strong plants, $ per doz.; $ per 100. pleW Double Ejepaniiiii]. New Life. A novel and new variety, different from all others ; the outer florets, which are large, are of a brilliant red. In the centre of these appears another semi-double pure white floret, effecting a charming contrast difficult to realize un- less seen, and having the appearance of being produced artificially. 30 cts. each ; $ per doz. fleto jSngle ^aqium. Dieul de Mirabel. This is unquestionably the finest single scarlet yet introduced ; foot stalks 15 inches long, bearing enormous trusses of immense circular florets of a velvety crimson scarlet.
