Venafro French War Cemetery contains 3141 burials of the Second World War. The French soldiers did free violence against the population of South Lazio where the episodes of Esperia and neighboring countries there are ample testimony. In the cemetery there is the mosque with the tomb of the "Unknown Soldier Fallen" and the monument of the Fallen French in Italy. The French expeditionary force was made up of two Moroccan Infantry Divisions, three Algerian Infantry Divisions, Moroccan Tabors groups, a division of Free France, four Moroccan Mountain Divisions and units of the overseas territories.
