This is where the Maggior Consiglio assembled laying the foundation of all Paradiso (Paradise). The hall measuring 53 metres long and 25 metres wide is the largest in the Doge’s Palace, and Europe. In 1577 part of the Doge’s Palace suffered a devastating fire. Restoration work was soon underway, commissioning several artists to paint scenes on its long walls of Venetian history. At the one end of the hall above a long row of wooden seats) are an enormous 22 metres by 9 meters size oil canvas painting of Paradiso’, painted by Venetian-born painter, Jacopo Robusti who adopted the nickname of ‘Tintoretto’
