Duan stone bamboo-like paper weight, Ming or Qing dynasty, China, 16th-18th centuries. An unusual dark khaki-coloured duan stone paper weight carved in the form of a section of bamboo. This paper weight is unusual in the use of duan stone which is normally reserved for use as inkstones.
