Holy Well or Jinny's Well in the small village of Salterforth on the Lancashire/Yorkshire Border,

First mentioned in the 12th century the water source is known as Jinny's Well this was originally the water supply for the hamlet of Salterforth . Jinny Green Teeth, a local witch or perhaps a wise woman, is supposed to guard it. This area used to be a cemetery but in the industrial Revolution a Cotton Mill was built in the village. Later the cemetery was buried under the tarmac of a car parkfor the mill, where the dead still mill is now defunct
