. 19 Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers Cpl Dodds enlisted in a territorial unit, 3 Tyneside Commercial Corps, in 1914. He was posted to the Western Front in February 1916 where he served with a machine-gun section. Cpl Dodds was killed in action, aged 30, on 28 March 1918 while waiting for his application for a commission to be approved. He is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
