Carmo Archaeological Museum. Founded in 1864 by Joaquim Possidonio da Silva (1806-1896), it is housed in the ruins of the former Carmo Convent (Convento do Carmo) the most important Gothic temple in the city until it was destroyed by an earthquake in 1755.
