Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii) is most commonly associated with outbreaks on cotton in the Southeast. It has many generations per year and is often resistant to various classes of insecticides. It is also subject to heavy mortality via predation and parasitism (ladybugs and braconid wasps). Ants are commonly found associated with melon aphid but they are there to collect honeydew. It is also known as the melon aphid. Magnification: x16 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
