Apples. variety 'Bardsey'. Medium sizes eating apple. A rediscovered tree 1998, growing against a house on the island of that name off the coast of the Liyn Peninsula. Gwynedd. North Wales. Survivor from an orchard tended by monks living on the island a thousand years. The cultivar has been vegetatively propagated and may now be bought commercially and be grown in private gardens, as here in Norfolk.
