They should be planted in beds, in the border, or in clumps in the open lawn, and will endure any amount of hard treat- | ment, stili, no flower better repays care and attention. Plant the bulbs in September or October—the earlier the better—to enable them to become well established before freezing weather. Set about two or three inches deep, and one inch apart, in clumps or triple rows; if planted singly they are not conspicuous.
