Caption: Shigatze, TAR, China - Jul 2001. Devotees walking past Buddhist inscriptions on rocks outside Tashilumpho Monastery, the seat of the exiled Panchen Lama in Shigatze, Tibet. Once one of the biggest and most influental monasteries in Tibet, being the home to the second most reincarnated monk, Tashilumpho was sacked during the 1950's with Chinese occupation. Although since regaining its original function as a scholary institution, the Chinese still have the monastery tightly uner the thumb.
