The leg was susceptible of all the natural motionsto some extent, with the exeption of rotation : but the man complainedof great pain while under examination. The projection of the tro-chanter major was entirely lost, whilst the luxated head of the bonecould be felt under Pouparts ligament, just below and to the inner sideof the anterior superior spinous process of the ilium, and apparently UPWARDS AND FORWARDS. 87. lying between the anterior inferior spinous process of the ilium, andthe junction of that bone with the pubes. It thus rested upon thebrim of the pelvis, and projectedupwards towards the femoral artery was not dis-placed, but could be traced on theinner side of the dislocated bone.
