View NW of the church (C14th tower, C15th S aisle) & wildlife area of the churchyard of St Julitta at Lanteglos-by-Camelford, Cornwall, England, UK.

View NW of the church & churchyard of St Julitta at Lanteglos-by-Camelford, Cornwall, England, UK. An inscribed C11th Saxon cross-shaft & a collection of four local Medieval wheel-headed wayside crosses have been arranged along the south side of the church. Lanteglos means the Valley Church, originally a Norman (c 1130) cruciform church built on the site of an oratory established by an Early Christian saint Jullita or Juliot. The 70ft tall granite ashlar tower is C14th, the south aisle & its porch were added to the nave & chancel in the C15th. Part of the acre churchyard is managed as a wildlife area to encourage the spread of wild flowers: snowdrops, primroses, daffodils, bluebells & campions; this photo was taken 15 May 1997 when the bluebells were in flower. A spring flows underground through the churchyard from the E (R).
