Torreparedones archaeological park among the olives to the north of Baena, Andalucia, Spain.

Torreparedones is the site of a Roman colonia or city, partly excavated in recent years and opened to the public circa 2009. The Roman city was built on the site of an earlier Iberian fortified site of which defensive walls remain and a sanctuary where votive offerings have been found. The Roman remains include a well-preserved forum with the foundations of temples and a market complex. A necropolis lies outside the main gates, which have been reconstructed in non-matching construction to indicate the original scale. There are also medieval remains including a castle tower and a pilgrimage site where two Christian sisters were martyred and sanctified in the Islamic period. EDITORIAL USE ONLY
