If the hook be foundentire, the point may be raised and carried forward through theskin ; then in consequence of the deep cut which forms thebarb, and the high temper of the wire, the whole end is easilybroken off, and the hook withdrawn. This, surely, is a very simple process, and may be executedin a moment, but we sometimes find, from awkward attempts atextraction, the body of the hook removed, leaving the end form-ing the barb and point imbedded in the flesh.
