Rorb was born March 10, 1836, at Service, Beavercounty. Pa.; he died at Albia, Iowa, January 9, 1909. He removedto Monroe county, Iowa, in 1853, settling in Bluff Creek enlisted in the 13th Iowa Infantry, serving three years and beingseverely w^ounded. He was admitted to the bar about 1882. This was a small six-column paper, conducted at thattime by one of my former schoolmates, Mr. Ephraim and I had roomed together in the little old Academy atJamestown, Chautauqua county, N. Y., some years was several years my senior and had preceded me sometime in getting into business. He was the editor and publisherof The Mail. It was printed on an old-fashioned Ramage^press. If I remember correctly, the two sides of the frame ofthe press had been made from a couple of hardwood platen was of w^ood and was only large enough to cover asingle page of the paper.
