View SE of the well & chapel dedicated to St Mary at Wigfair, near St Asaph, Denbighshire, Wales, UK: a late C15th well-chapel ruined by the end of the C17th. The spring flows into an elaborate stone basin outside the W wall of the cross-shaped chapel. The basin is almost square (10x8ft) with projecting angles in the N, E & W sides, a very similar design to St Winifred's Well at Holywell 10 miles to the NE. The well & a narrow bathing pool just S of the chapel probably date from around 1550. The angled bath was formerly roofed over & the water used to treat rheumatism.
