Down town Harry Ruwe and Au- gust Langc both report good lousiness and both are turning over large fjuan- tities of good stock. They say that Thanksgiving usually means increased .sales of cut flowers, especially to tran- sient customers, but otherwise it does not affect them much. John Mangel has his store in splen- did shape now and his stock is in first rate condition. Since the reno- vations have been completed he has had far more room in the store and the windows are also more easily ar- ranged. He has usually some good made-up work on show and we noted a fine cross of white carnations with the arms of white roses, the whole trimmed with violets and Mexican ivy, a very successful design. His special Thanksgiving window is a purely country scene with a porch overhung with leaves while on the ground around it are some extremely natural looking pheasants and small turkeys. Live rabbits, guinea pigs, pigeons and other denizens of the farm are also to be seen and crow-ds of people are attracted. The Fleischman Floral Co. does not make any special display for Thanks- giving but has been and is carrying a splendid line of stock in chrs'-santhe- mums, roses and carnations as well as a number of novelties. Orchids are not plentiful enough to meet the great demand for corsage bunches which is constantly increasing liere. In the windows we noted some charm- ing baskets of violets and a fine col- lection of the smaller chrysanthe- mums, singles, pompons and ane- mones. A very choice showino* of im- ported Japanese art ware is now made at this store and we have sel- dom seen anything prettier. There is a great variety in the flowers figur
