An American soldier drives past buildings set afire by survivors after the SS evacuated the Ohrdruf concentration was a forced labour camp, a sub-camp of the Buchenwald complex. As the allies approched the SS evacuated the camp by forced marches and murdering those to weak to walk. An estimated 7000 people died there. The camp was liberated by the US Army on 4th April 1945
